Decorated Easter Cookies

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

There are many delicious cookie recipes that can be used to make decorated Easter cookies and the ones you choose will be those that are the easiest to make, when considering the taste of the results. Many will use a recipe for cut out cookies, decorating them once baked in the color of Easter eggs.

Having a cookie cutter in the shape or a rabbit or an egg can help, although some prefer the traditional shapes of decorated Easter cookies such as a cross or even a church with a steeple. Many forms can symbolize the holiday and for many it is the decoration of the cookies that make them special for the holiday. And, since some do not like the idea of eating hard-boiled eggs that may have been sitting out for several hours, they opt for the decorated Easter cookies, which usually taste sweeter, anyway.

Being able to make decorated Easter cookies with designs made with icing can make you a real hero for the holiday. However, a sweet tasting cookie in a shape related to Easter and coated with icing, will be sufficient for many.

The Easter Lily And Other Easter Flowers

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Easter flowers have always brought beauty and spirituality to the special holiday. There are a variety of elegant and vibrant flowers that enhance the meaning of Easter. These flowers are used to decorate homes, churches, and are even given as gifts. They make for great table center piece for family and friends to enjoy while eating their delicious Easter dinner. When selecting the perfect flowers for your holiday celebration, it is important to know the types of flowers that are typically used to renew this meaningful occasion.

1. Easter Lily – The Easter Lily is the most popular Easter flower. Although the traditional Easter lily is white with a bell-shaped flower, there are a number of different colors of lilies to choose from such as pink, white, yellow, and red orange. Originating in Japan, the Easter Lily symbolizes purity and renewal of Easter. Because of the shape of the Easter Lily’s petals, Christians refer to them as the trumpet of God summoning Jesus to return.

The Good Bad Easter – our Kids Won`t Listen to God When it Comes Down to Chocolate

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I have over the last couple of days read several articles relating to Easter and found the Easter bunny, chocolate eggs, Easter bonnet parade and egg decorating competition predominantly reign as to being the most prioritized of Easter actions either consumed or participated in at this time. Is this a good thing or bad thing? Well this will depend on what is referred too as bad or good. Should we rejoice by stuffing ourselves with chocolate, should we be happy when hunting for eggs or should we even smile when winning the first prize for best turned out Easter bonnet – when there is so much hurt and anger in the world?

Should we not be marking this time of the year with President Bush who five years ago launched the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Should we not be out looking for Madeleine McCann. How about we all forget Easter traditions and hold a ritual for all those who perished in the 9/11 bombings or those who were killed by the tsunami. Well we could but what would it solve now the damage has been done. These very sad incidents have already happened so therefore to late to prevent. Easter is a religious time when prayers are heard. Let us pray for those who perished, but more importantly pray that all sinners of the world to come together and stop what they do. The outcome of a peace treaty may help those bereaved believe that their loss of a loved one was not all in vain.

Google – the Master of Easter Eggs

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Google has big dreams – and as a big company it can even effort to put those dreams in reality. Apart from putting rather real dreams into action – like buying “YouTube” for the bargain price of $1.65bn, sometimes their fantasy runs wild.

Google is well known for their little gadgets be it to change their logo for various occasions or seasons or the equally entertaining “Easter Eggs”.

Earlier this year we heard about weird things happening to the Google templates at 3.14am sharp: the Loch Ness monster or the “Pi” symbol with the sky template at 3:14 am ( Pi = 3.14159265!!!!!) suddenly appeared on your personalized Google homepage template.

Google Earth – Flightsimulator

Using Google Earth we can now even fly between buildings with a secret Flight Simulator that takes full advantage of Google’s extensive satellite imagery.

To access these hidden feature, open Google Earth and hit or Ctrl+Alt+A (with a capital A) if you’re using a Windows Machine. (or Command+Option+A with other hardwares)

The Google Earth Flight Simulator comes with two aircraft options, a F16 Viper and the more manageable SR22 4 plane. Players have the option of commencing the game from their current location in Google Earth or can pick from a list of pre-determined runways.

Are There Easter Gifts you Can Give That Aren’t Solely Chocolates?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Easter is a lovely holiday. It’s like Christmas without the pressure of weeks of shopping and catering preparations. It also marks the beginning of spring; a change in season that is always welcome, particularly when the weather is expected to improve. The days are getting longer and brighter and outside is less bleak. Leaves are budding on the trees, bulbs are starting to peek through the muddy flower beds and your cat starts hunting again (those poor baby birds).

Easter in 2008 comes early and will be held this year on Sunday 23rd March. The date for this festival is a movable feast changing each year and is decided by the cycle of the moon.

Easter comes at the end of Lent when traditionally Christians have been fasting for forty days. After denying themselves good Christians are ready for some feasting. The egg symbolises new life and Easter recognises the rebirth of Christ. This is the reason we celebrate with chocolate eggs, simnel cake with marzipan eggs and roast spring lamb. For the non-religious Easter is a celebration of spring and the egg is also a symbol of this season with newly hatched chicks in abundance.

Have a Romantic Easter Holiday with Easter Theme Games & Chocolate Easter Gift Baskets

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

It’s time we started associating Easter with some of the more romantic holidays. It is, of course, a religious holiday, but so is Christmas. Many couples find time for romance during the Christmas holiday. Why shouldn’t they do the same at Easter? The start of spring, the warmth in the air, and the rebirth of nature make the Easter season ripe for romance. So this Easter weekend, treat your gal or guy to an Easter date.

Plan your romance for Friday or Saturday of Easter weekend. That way, your plans for romance won’t interfere with any church services, kid’s egg hunts or family dinners that are planned for Easter Sunday.

One of the great things about romance is that it’s not necessary to make grand gestures and spend lots of money to let the one you love know how you feel. The Easter season lends itself to simple, romantic and fun ideas. Go with them and you won’t go wrong. Don’t be fooled into thinking that women always need a big show to know they are cared about. It’s been my experience that it’s the little, thoughtful things that really melt a girl’s heart.

Create An Egg-Citing Easter Celebration

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

While many families have their own traditions to celebrate Easter, often eggs, bunnies, chicks, and egg hunts are part of the festivities. Here are a few fun ideas for Easter decorations, crafts, and games to help you celebrate this springtime holiday with your family.

Eggstravaganza – Children of all ages love to color and decorate Easter eggs! Coloring eggs has been a part of spring festivities for centuries. In both Passover and Easter traditions, the egg symbolizes new life. This year consider involving the whole family in an evening of Easter egg decorating. Younger children kids have fun using Q-tips to dip into egg colorings to decorate their eggs.

Easter baskets – Before Easter arrives, get creative and help your children make their own Easter baskets out of clean half-gallon milk or juice cartons. Cut a 4″ piece off the bottom of the milk carton. Clean thoroughly and cut a piece of craft paper to wrap around the container. Glue craft sticks to create a fence around the container and let dry. When dry, use small flowers or decorative craft foam pieces to decorate the container. Drill a hole to opposite sides. Twist two pipe cleaners together to make a handle. Attach handle on container and fill with Easter grass. This also makes a very nice Easter table decoration. See picture on www.KidsSoup.com/easter.html .

Lost Easter Eggs: "the Shape of Things to Come"

Monday, July 20th, 2009

been much fanfare about Lost, its online cult following now more massive than ever. The most recent episode “The Shape of Things to Come” apparently brought to fore and emphasized the show’s highly dynamic and unpredictable character. Moreover, it has highlighted, perhaps more than all those in the past, how the show has not only changed dramatically in terms of content and breadth, but how it has veered away from its original course.

During its first season, Lost introduced us to a bunch of survivors of the doomed Oceanic Flight 815, subsequently chronicling their life (or death) on the island and how they would eventually get out of it and be saved. Later on, subsequent Lost seasons would bombard us with one surprise after another, each one more mind-boggling than the last. We would be presented with a host of phenomenon and characters which would dramatically change our simplistic view of the initially inanimate, humdrum island.
