Few groups follow the latest technologies as attentively as do golfers. New innovations, techniques and materials are constantly changing the game by degrees, helping to create new pro heroes and forcing amateurs to go to great length to achieve that elusive perfect shot.
Technological advances are also behind Getting Personal’s new product – the personalised golf calendar. And the Altrincham company is expecting something of a rush with Father’s Day so near.
It has always been possible to find a tasteful golfing calendar for the dad who has everything but who doesn’t know what day it is. They have usually taken the form of some stunning photography of the world’s most beautiful and memorable golf courses, or perhaps some of the characters from the sport.
But now, golfers are able to have their name or some other short message superimposed flawlessly onto a series of golfing scenarios.
For example there is and aerial shot with the name spelt out in golf carts or trees, a signature logo on clubs, gloves and balls, and a signpost to the 18th hole magically named after the recipient.

Fathers’ day was created early in the twentieth century to complement an existing day for honouring mothers, known as Mothers Day. The day was set up to complement fathers on their fatherhood duties. The idea largely came about soon after the rise in the Suffragette movement, when women started competing for equal rights. As soon as women wanted more, men decided that they wanted equality in other places too. And since this day, fathers across the globe are able to celebrate their contribution to parenting.
Fathers can only celebrate this day if they have a son or daughter and the son and/or daughter commemorates them for this day. This normally means a last minute panic buy from the local shops as siblings rush to buy presents from just about anywhere they can get their hands on them. Supermarkets are normally a good bet largely due to the wide range of choice available to them including chocolates, aftershave…

Unlike Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Pay Day, Father’s Day’s place in the calendar is difficult to pinpoint because it changes from year to year – and, indeed, from country to country. You might think that this gives you a legitimate excuse to forget it, but now you’ve found the internet you won’t need an excuse. Getting your perfect personalised
Fathers Day Gifts is but a few clicks away.
To be honest, the chances of anyone who lives within 200 miles of western civilisation forgetting Father’s Day are very slim indeed. The early warning sirens will have given you at least a month’s notice. Card shop windows will be prodding you with subtle capitalised slogans, pubs and restaurants will be advising you to “Book now for Father’s Day”, which is nice of them, and even the new page on your calendar will have that telltale little subheading under the date. And that doesn’t take into account the fact that your dad has started being extra nice to you and asking your mum how she enjoyed Mother’s Day.

It’s funny how we all think we know our fathers well – until the time comes when we have to buy Father’s Day gifts for them. All of a sudden our minds draw blanks. We have ideas that seem great for about 0.3 seconds and then it dawns on us that the gifts we’re considering are bland, predictable and most importantly lacking in that special thing – the personal touch. But why is that so important?
Compare these two fabulous fathers day gifts: (1) a day spent throwing a screeching Lamborghini around corners at breakneck speed; (2) a day being pampered and massaged in a country retreat with scented candles and whale songs, where bath robes and flip flops are the height of fashion. Any father would be thrilled to receive either from their son or daughter, wouldn’t they? Well, no. For some dads, the idea of firing up a V12 and burning some rubber will cause the involuntary rolling of eyes and stifled yawns. For others, any activity that results in a lowering of the heart rate is a pointless, overindulgent exercise. Getting the wrong Father’s Day gift for Dad will just go to suggest that you’re confusing the things he would like with the things you would like. Straight away, you’ve failed the personal test.
