Santa’s Secrets

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Being Santa is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. If it was not bad enough that he builds millions of toys and then travels around the world in one night to deliver them, he also has many other duties that we do not know about. There are decisions that have to be make that could change people’s lives. The naughty and nice list alone is such a daunting task that we could not do it ourselves. In fact, it would take 200 ordinary people working 24 hours a day every day for a year to go through the list once and even then, Santa would have to do it again. A single day I the life of Santa would wear a person out so completely that they would be in bed for a week. Here are five things that no one knew about Santa Clause. (Until now)

You have many options when you seek flower delivery to Dallas, Texas. You can choose from different arrangements, bouquets and even cut flowers when you purchase floral delivery by going online.

Online florists offer you every option that your local florists offer without the inconvenience of having to stop in. It is now easier than ever to get flower delivery to Dallas.

Bouquets of flowers is a wonderful way to tell someone that you care about them and are thinking about them without having to spend a lot of money. Unlike floral arrangements, bouquets of flowers are wrapped in cellophane or tissue and delivered to the recipient who will then put them in a vase.

And thanks to the water stick most companies will place on each stem, the flowers will look their best when they arrive. Or, for a little more money, a flower arrangement complete with its own vase can make a powerful statement.

In addition to blooms, bouquets of flowers also include greenery and accent pieces. In some cases, Baby Breath is added as an accent piece to the floral bouquet. Fresh Baby Breath is used for fresh floral bouquets as dried is used in dried arrangements. Greenery is also used to make the floral bouquet stand out.

Who Will Have A Blue Christmas

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Many people get depressed at this time of year. There are many reasons for this but it happens so often now that the season has a small but growing enigma attached to it that has it dubbed as a depressing time of year. This article is briefly going to try to bring to light some of the reasons people get depressed and some things that might be done to prevent it.

One of the main reasons sited for depression at this time of year is loneliness. I can relate to this experience as I have spent many a Christmas alone. It is not a very good feeling to be alone on what is supposed to be a happy time spent with family and friends. Many people do not have family or friends. It is just as depressing when a family member has died and is not present for the first time at Christmas. Santa phone calls can help when a child is involved in this situation. For some reason, Santa calls make them feel better for a short time but the absence of a friend of loved one can be devastating at this time of year.

Santa The Man And The Myth

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

What do we really know about Santa Clause? Here is a man that we trust to come into our homes once a year. He eats our food and knows what we are doing almost all the time. He knows how old we are. He knows how many children we have. He even knows when we are sleeping or awake and when we are bad or good. The question is, what do we really know about him? Here are a few facts about the jolly fat man in the bright red suit.

Santa Clause is one of the smartest living beings on the planet. His IQ is so high that it could not be tested. A brilliant man and yet he has had no formal education to speak of. In the last decade, Santa Clause has taken college courses on line and earned a double PhD. Before the internet, however, he could already speak almost every language fluently and he could read and write them as well. If you have a conversation with Santa, he will be able to tell, within five minutes or so, where you are from and where you have lived over your lifetime by picking out small fluctuations in your accent. These are little key tones that we pick up from listening and speaking in any particular dialect.

How To Tap Into The Christmas Spirit

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

The Christmas season is the most hectic and nail biting time of year. The traffic is atrocious and the city streets and highways are jammed with people who are in a hurry. Money is so tight you can squeeze green juice from it and everyone wants something from you, especially your time, which is always in short supply at this time of year. So how do you find and keep the Christmas spirit when all you want to do is crawl back under the covers and stay there until February. Read on, my tired and stressed out friend. You might just find something useful.

The most important thing you can do to make your Christmas less stressful is to do your Christmas shopping early. Granted, you cannot shop for everyone early because some children, particularly the older teenagers will want the latest version of whatever techno device is coming out just in time for Christmas. However, you can do the majority of your shopping early enough to make the rest seem easy by comparison. There is one day that occurs in the United States called Black Friday. As ominous as this sounds, it is actually a day that can benefit Christmas shoppers in a very big way. All the major retail stores set this day aside to have tremendous sales up to 80% off regular retail prices. They actually open their doors as early as 3am and stay open until midnight in many cases. However, the earlier you arrive, the better the selection. This is a great day to get everything (almost everything) done as far as your Christmas shopping goes.

Politics On Christmas

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Family reunions only take place on special occasions, in my family at least. Usually on Christmas day, the entire family will get together at my grandparents house to open presents, play games, eat lots of food, and celebrate it together. This might sound like fun, for most of you, but if you knew my family, you’d hate it as much as I do. Christmas is really no time to celebrate, for me.

The political careers of nearly all my male family members don’t interest me at all, but this is all they ever talk about. I understand it’s their job, but at least on Christmas, they could talk about something else. There are my cousins around, with who I can talk, and even though I don’t have a lot of things in common with them, and they’re younger than me, it does mean I don’t have to listen to my relatives’ conversations, so it’s great.

Considering the big age difference between me and my cousins, it’s not a big surprise that I ran out of things to talk to them about, and the Christmas movies that were on TV didn’t interest me. Luckily, I remembered a Christmas present that I hadn’t really used, and was just sitting in my drawer.

Desserts Are a Sure-fire Way to Up the Baby Shower Fun Factor

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Baby showers are not complete without sweets! Desserts, fruit, and pastries add sweetness and charm to special events. Sweets are an important part of a baby shower, so do not forget to include them in your menu. If you have reservations in a restaurant, the restaurant will probably offer a dessert menu from which you can choose your selection of sweets and post-meal indulgences.

If you are hosting the baby shower at a banquet hall or at someones home, the dessert menu is completely up to you to decide on. You can make desserts fun, sweet, and baby themed to match your event. If there is a specific theme that you are focusing on, like “Pink Tea,” design your dessert menu around your theme. Popular sweets for baby showers are pastries, clairs, truffles, fruits, chocolates, and the ever-classic cake.

Pastries and clairs can be bought or baked. Visit your local bakery to find out about any special deals and offers that they can offer for a large quantity of pastries purchased. You can also find some good recipes online or in a cookbook, and bake the pastries yourself. A great alternative to this is to buy frozen pastries at your local grocery store, or better yet, at a wholesale grocery store. These are affordable and scrumptiously delicious. B.J.s and Costco supermarkets have amazing clairs that nobody will ever know were bought frozen.
